Saché

Le château de Saché, que nous avons visité lundi dernier, abrite un musée sur Honoré de Balzac.

Né à Tours le 20 mai 1799, l'écrivain est venu dans ce château entre 1830 et 1837 (sa maison natale à Tours a été bombardée au cours de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale). Travailleur acharné dopé au café, il a écrit Le Lys dans la vallée lors de son séjour à Saché.

Le château est élégant et dans un cadre paysager agréable. Il est possible de découvrir la salle à manger, le salon et la chambre de Balzac dans laquelle se trouvait également son bureau. Différentes pièces retracent la vie et l'oeuvre de l'écrivain.

La visite est vraiment intéressante. Le prix d'entrée est de 4.50€ (pas cher vu les tarifs pratiqués dans la région!)

The castle of Saché, that we visited on last Monday, shelters a museum on Honore de Balzac.

Born at Tours on May 20, 1799, the novelist came in this castle between 1830 and 1837 (its native house at Tours was bombarded during the Second World war). Keen worker doped with some coffee, he wrote le Lys dans la Vallée during a Saché stay.

The castle is elegant and within a pleasant landscape. It is possible to discover the dining room, the living room and the bedroom of Balzac in which also its office was. Various parts recall the life and the work of the writer.

The visit is really interesting. The entrance fee is of 4.50€ (not expensive considering the tariffs applied in the area!)
