Saint Paterne Racan

Saint Paterne Racan est un village de 1500 habitants situé au nord de l'agglomération de Tours. Le poête Racan (1586 - 1670) a donné son nom à la commune et s'est fait également construire un beau château (qui se visite uniquement au mois d'août). Saint Paterne Racan is a village of 1500 inhabitants located at the northern of the agglomeration of Tours. The poête Racan (1586 - 1670) gave its name to the commune and has also made build a beautiful castle (which is visited only in August).

La promenade d'un peu plus de 10 km, que nous nous avons réalisée il y a deux semaines, permet de découvrir le coeur du village mais aussi la campagne aux alentours. The walk of a little more than 10 km, that we did two weeks ago, makes it possible to discover the heart of the village but also the countryside in the neighbourhoods.

Juste au nord du village (dont le centre est en travaux et avec une église à l'architecture originale), on découvre la chapelle bénédictine Saint Gilles (datant du 11ème siècle) qui très bien conservée. Just in the northern of the village (of which the center is in work and with a church with an original architecture), we discover a bénédictine vault named Saint Gilles (which dates from the 11th century) which is very well preserved.

Par la suite, pendant des kilomètres, nous progressons au milieu des vergers de pommes, très nombreux par ici. Nous faisons quelques rencontres insolites lors de la marche, dont une petite couleuvre. Thereafter, during kilometers, we progress in the middle of the apple orchards which are very numerous by here. We did some strange meetings during the walk, including a small grass snake.

Nous avons récolté beaucoup de mûres lors de la randonnée, mais aussi des noix, des noisettes et des châtaignes (début de la saison). Enikö a fait une soupe avec les mûres. We collected much of blackberries during the excursion, but also nuts, hazel nuts and sweet chestnuts (it is the beginning of the season). Enikö cook a soup with the blackberries.

C'était une promenade tranquille, sous un beau soleil et des températures agréables. Le pays de Racan est paisible et reposant à parcourir. It was a quiet walk, under a beautiful sun and pleasant temperatures. The country of Racan is peaceful and thus pleasant and resting to discover.
