Le bâtiment, construit en 1666 par Colbert, est au coeur de l'ancien arsenal de Rochefort. Le bâtiment a une longueur de 374 m et une largeur de 8 m. Des cordages pour la marine y sont fabriqués jusqu'à la fin du 19ème siècle. Incendiée pendant la Seconde Guerre Mondiale, la corderie est restaurée dans les années 80. C'est désormais un musée.

The building, built in 1666 by Colbert, is in the middle of the old arsenal of Rochefort. The building has a length of 374 m and a width of 8 M. Numerous ship cables are manufactured there until the end of the 19th century. Burned during the Second World war, the rope manufacture is restored in the Eighties. It is nowadays a museum.
