Roc'h Trevezel

We continue our walk in the Monts of Arrée in the Armorique regional park with a walk to the top of the Roc'h Trevezel (384 m, is the second highest point of Brittant after the Roc'h Ruz)! Vándorútunk következő állomása a Monts d’Arrée (Arrée hegyek), mely az Armorique-i Nemzeti Parkban található.

It was an invigorating climb, with a near-polar wind! But the surrounding view is remarkable, especially because the weather was clear this day. The lands have little vegetation, the Mount is located in a real moorlands landscape. The rocks are old, granite and flaky.

Huelgoat, a village with less than 2000 inhabitants, is a historical and legendary place. For example, or Arthur or Artus erected a camp in antiquity at this location. There is also a Artus cave, instead of a treasure found by the King...

You need a day to see all the Legendary sites of Huelgoat. We have mainly walked in the famous rock chaos near the village (see above). Exercise needs caution because some passages are poorly protected and sometimes frosty. In these circumstances it is difficult to easily to reach the stream beneath rocks (and thus joining the fairy who is banished here for speaking to boys-instead called "fairies's pool" who are still visible in the moonlight)! Tündérek tavánánál, melyet most is megcsodálhatunk teliholdkor).

The appearance of the rocks is the work of erosion (as evidenced by their rounded edges). Water runoff has gradually removed the earth and flora which covered them. However, according to a legend, it is Gargantua who started these boulders at this location by revenge. Because during an earlier passage, the people of Huelgoat only gave him that some black boiled wheat and he didn't liked that.

The trembling rock (first picture on the left) is a block of more than 100 tons, which, it seems, is possible to move on its axis by pushing at a specific location (We failed). Druids worshiped this stone that symbolized the power of God.

The River (the silver river) disappears in the chaos rock (and recurs in the fairies's pool) to the cave devil which is to be the beginning of the path to go to hell. The place is not very accessible and it is indeed possible to reach the underworld by this access!

Many other stories and legends are in Huelgoat, go here to have some succinctly knowledges. The river, the forest, the rocks have a story.

At the beginning of the second day of our trip , under a sunny sky but with a Siberian wind, we went gradually to the northern of Brittany. And we started to see the country churchyard of Pleyben, one of the finest in the area. Bretagne-i vándorútunk második napján, ragyogó napsütésben, de szibériai szélben, észak felé vettük útunk. Először is megnéztük Pleyben-ben az enclos paroissialt (plébániai zárt kert, tipikus bretagne-i templomépítészeti ritkaság), mely az egyik legszebb ami Bretagne-ban található.

The country churchyard is a sacred space which usually has the following characteristics: a monumental entrance door, a sanctuary, an ossuary, the cemetery and the church and its porch. The church at Pleyben (sixteenth century) is in the Gothic style Breton. We were unable to see inside of it because it was the time of the Mass at our arrival.

The entrance door of the country churchyard (not shown in the photos) is not very impressive at Pleyben. The ossuary (third picture above) is from the sixteenth century and is now converted into a chapel. The ordeal is from the same period, superb, it contains many scenes carved religious. A bejárat (a fotókon nem látható), nem túl jelentős Pleybenben.

The Pointe du Raz is at the end of the end of the Brittany! In reality, the Pointe de Corsen (northern - which separates the Atlantic Ocean from the Channel) is even further western, but the Pointe du Raz is a spectacular rocky headland that we should not hesitate to discover, including in windy significant (however, we should be taken care in these circumstances).

It is a daunting place for mariners, and the surrounding localities names attested the fact with the Bay of dead, the hell of Plogoff. The statue of Notre Dame des Naufragés survey the site. Two automatic headlights and a semaphore are used to secure maritime traffic today. A « raz » kifejezés gyors vizáramlatot jelöl (szökőár…). A hajótöröttek Miasszonyunk szobra őrködik a tájon.

To be noted that a project for build a nuclear power plant was launched in the late 70s. The inhabitants have demonstrated against this project. Finally, François Mitterrand has abandoned the idea which saving this wild site which has become a major national site. An important work to safeguard the site has recently been made to cover it by heather and gorse. The hotels located on the rocky were destroyed and visitors must walk for a good quarter of an hour from the car park.

Douarnenez

Located at a few kilometres at western from Locronan, Douarnenez is a city of 15000 inhabitants (which are fewer and fewer over the census, the decline of fishing, especially sardines, is undoubtedly an explanation to this trend of the population). Indeed, Douarnenez has a delightful fishing port (since combined with a marina), which makes the happiness of the birds at the returns of the boats. Locronantól néhány kilométerre nyugatra fekszik Douarnenez, 15 000 lakosú város (akik egyébként egyre kevesebben vannak a népszámlálások során, a halászat korlátozása, nevezetesen a szardíniáé magyarázatot ad erre a demográfiai evolúcióra. Valóban, Douarnenez elragadó halászkikötő (egy ideje marina is egyben), ahol a madarak ujjongva várják a hajók visszatérését.

The local cake Douarnenez is the Kouign amann which is a delicious cake made of butter with puff pastry! This is delicious. Douarnenez helyi cukrász-különlegessége a Kouign amann, mely egy leveles tésztából készült vajas sütemény !

On the left, you can see a typical house. On the right, there is the former mariner's shelter. These shelters, founded by Jacques THEZAC, are buildings often pink (or salmon colour), which should improve the livelihood of fishermen. Comfortable, they could come into this place to sleep or play, and thus avoid falling into alcoholism or demoralization.

Locronan is one of the most beautiful villages in France. Located just at the northern of Quimper and eastern of Douarnenez, he has kept all of its character and it is a city loaded with histories.

The village church, moist and punctuated with wooden sculptures, is from the fifteenth century and is attached to the chapel of Penity which houses the Saint Ronan lying. In July, there is a league named the Troménie which is a pilgrimage that circled the village, along the boundaries of the former Benedictine priory. The march is 6 km (for the small Troménie) or 12 km (for the vast Troménie which is held every 6 years). A falu temploma (melynek tornyát villámcsapás érte) XV. századi, rendkívül nedves, faszobrok tarkítják s egybe van csatolva a Penity kápolnával, mely Szent Ronan (történetét lásd itt) földi maradványait rejti.

The houses of the village are in granite and in harmony with each other. Differents films has been made in Locronan. The site was also a historical place of hemp products and some are offered to visitors. Many shops also offer the Kouign Amann, which is a specialty of Douarnenez, next step in our pilgrimage Breton... A házak gránitból épültek, harmóniában állva egymással. Sok film forgatási színhelye volt Locronan. Fontos kenderkészítő hely is volt e falu, kenderből készült termékeket most is vásárolhatunk (nevezetesen a "Choses et autres" butikban), mely a templom terén áll és ahol nagyon szívesen fogadtak minket. Számos üzlet kínál nekünk Kouign Amann-t mely egy douarnenezi specialitás, ami vándorútunk következő állomása is egyben…
